You have probably figured out by now that things are cheaper online than in-store. But are you using all the tools to get the lowest price possible? Let’s take a closer look at some of them.

There are multiple ways of getting additional discounts: from comparing prices across sellers to skipping shipping costs. Here are the ones that were tested and worked for us.
1. Find the lowest price
Use Penny – AI-powered browser extension that scans prices across multiple retailers to ensure you get the best deal. It will also report on the quality of the product by analyzing product details and reviews, and will suggest similar or better options. For fashion items, my favorite price comparison website is shopstyle.com.
2. Take advantage of the coupons
Other useful extensions like Honey or FatCoupon automatically search for coupons on over 30,000 sites and enter the codes for you. You can also earn rewards just for using the extension! A total win-win.
3. Treat yourself
with a gift card. Yes, there are websites (CardCash for example) where you can buy discounted gift cards, then use them to make a purchase for yourself or someone else.
4. Know your holidays
There is time for everything, especially online shopping. Try to hold your shopping fever till the next big holiday, and it will definitely pay off. Some of the best deals happen on Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day, Memorial day and 11.11 for Aliexpress. Besides, many retailers run Anniversary and Mid-Year sales, so do your homework.
5. Ask for it
It does’t hurt to ask, right? Chat online with a store representative and ask nicely about any available promotions. Worked for me once at Macy’s.
6. Abandon a shopping cart
This may not work every time, but still worth trying. Some retailers run promotions specifically targeting cart abandoners, and will offer generous discounts for you to complete the purchase.

7. Become a follower
It may be helpful to follow your retailers on social media, as well as sign up for their newsletters. Choose wisely, because the amount of promotions can become overwhelming, just like the amount of temptation.
8. Go mobile
Many retailers will offer incentives just for downloading the app. Furthermore, they will give special discounts for their mobile users. Again, choose your favorites and use with caution!
9. You are welcome!
Try acting like a newbie. Signing up with a new email address will usually generate a welcome bonus, which may or may not be better than long term loyalty benefits.
10. Save on shipping costs
Not like we need another excuse, but buying more to get free shipping is simple math. Most sellers will drop the shipping fee over a certain minimum purchase amount. In addition, if the retailer is in your area, you may arrange a store pickup. And lastly, take advantage of Amazon Prime free trial that you can receive every 6 months. Just remember to cancel on time!
